Vacation Scholarships:
The Melville Trust Vacation Scholarships provide promising undergraduates with hands-on experience of cancer research during the summer vacation, with the aim of encouraging them to consider a career in research. The track record of students is a major consideration in deciding outcome, and the process is competitive.
Scholarships are available for six to eight weeks' work and currently provide a stipend of £300 per week, which will be paid after receipt and approval of the formal short report of the work conducted.
Student applicants must be at a university within the UK or Republic of Ireland, registered for a science, medicine, dentistry or veterinary degree, must not have completed their undergraduate education and graduated by the time of commencing their Vacation Scholarship period.

PhD studentships:
The Melville Trust PhD Studentship provides three years support for promising cancer researchers.
The track record of applicants and the hosting institution are a major consideration in deciding outcome, and the process is competitive.
The Trust supports work in the fields of research into care or cure of cancer but does not support research using animals for research.
Studentships are available for three years and include home rate fees, stipend and consumables capped at £8,000 per annum if fully justified. Clinical salaries are not supported.
